Pre-implantation Diagnosis

Pre-implantation Diagnosis

The Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis offers the opportunity to diagnose abnormalities in the embryo before implantation takes place:

Aneuploidy detection in couples with repeated miscarriages, in women of advanced years or after several in vitro fertilization processes without a positive result.

  • Aneuploidy detection in couples with repeated miscarriages, in women of advanced years or after several in vitro fertilization processes without a positive result.
  • Sex determination, in cases of precedents of illnesses related to the X chromosome.
  • Detection of chromosomal structure anomalies for example translocation.
  • Diagnosis of embryos affected by monogenic diseases.
  • HLA matching in order to detect histocompatible embryos for future transplants.

This diagnosis must be always done during the process of in vitro fertilization.

A blastocyst of the embryo is studied when it has 6-8 cells. The result is given the same day of the biopsy, permitting the immediate transfer of the embryo.
